W9862r TO MATT BROMAN from his associate, T.B. McQuesten
Jan 5 1942
To: Matt Broman, Niagara Falls, Ontario
From: T.B. McQuesten

[ONTARIO CREST - shield and animals]
Minister of Highways

Toronto, January 5, 1942.

Dear Matt,1,2

I was delighted with "An Herbal", which I have been reading ever since it arrived and which I find to be a most interesting and instructive work. There is a quaintness about it which has been well preserved in the translation. I especially appreciate your going to the trouble of getting this particular thing, knowing as you doubtless did, that it would specially interest me.

I thought I would get to Niagara over the Christmas season, but I holed up in Hamilton and found I could not pull myself out. I shall look forward to seeing you within the next few days. I hope you will have a very happy and prosperous New Year.

Faithfully yours,
T.B. McQuesten

K.M. Broman, Esq.,
Niagara Parks Commission,
Niagara Falls, Ontario.

1 Matt Broman worked very closely with Thomas B. McQuesten on many of his projects in Hamilton and in Niagara. There is a plaque commemorating Matt Broman's work at the RBG near the Thomas B. McQuesten High Level Bridge. There is also a small lookout park named after him on the brow overlooking King's Forest Park in Hamilton. The series of letters beginning with "986" are all part of the Broman collection.

For more information on T.B. McQuesten see his biography.

2 This document was originally numbered 986.1.043 but has been renumbered for cataloguing purposes.
