My dear Cal,
Many thanks for the photo of Laurier and your letter. I was greatly pleased with the photo. I don't think that I ever saw a better one and I wanted to get a portrait of the old man so that your gift is most opportune. Again many thanks.
Hilda and Edna left this morning and will doubtless be in Buckingham before this.
Am glad to know that your campaign progressed so well. It seems to me to be a very large [?] for a small place and is most creditable. We couldn't do as well here.
I am sending you Land and Water each week. So far as I can learn it is the most sane of all the war criticisms. I found it most satisfactory for it is usually encouraging although not at all sanguine of immediate results.
We have our Sunday School picnic this afternoon which I hope to attend.
If possible this summer I should like to look over your place for a little while but do not know whether I can manage it.
