W7743 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from W. A. Cameron

To: Calvin McQuesten Glenhurst, Saskatchewan
From: Fraserville, Ontario
Your letter reached me this morning at Peterboro' [Peterborough]. I started on my summer's work last Sunday and am just getting things under way. Rev. H. J. Keith of Peterboro' is S.S. Convenor for Peterboro' Presbytery. When I reached Peterboro' on Monday, I found that no arrangement had been made for any work. However, we got to work and drew up a program of the month's work in the Presbytery. As might be expected this week the machinery is not running very smoothly as the places visited have got scarcely any notice. We got along fairly well at the first two places but there was a hitch to-day. I was to meet with the teachers of a country congregation called Centreville to-night. The minister lives some three miles from the railway. He did not meet me when I reached here at noon but fortunately I got a ride out. But when I arrived I found that he had received no word of my coming and his teachers were so scattered, he could not get them together for a meeting to-night. So this means I will get nothing done to-night and as he was going away, I am now waiting for the mailman to get a ride to my next place. However, I expected these hitches this week but hope from now on things will run more smoothly.
As I am rather far from Robert St. I am sorry not to be able to induce that doctor to cast in his lot among you Buffalonians. If it is Charlie Totten of '07 B & P you mean, he knows that country pretty well as he has been in Saskatoon and knows conditions out your way. I did not know he was married however nor that he would be through for another year so that it may be someone else though the name is not a common one. However I hope he and his wife may be induced to minister to your physical and mental wants.
I hope you may have a good summer. I got a letter from my old field to-day. Sanderson reached there on the 11th and was getting things into shape for a start. He has the same pony I had two years ago. Charlie had him too so he knows the country and will not lead Sanderson astray.
Will be glad to hear from you again when you have time to write. By addressing me to the College it will be forwarded to me wherever I am. I finish in Peterboro' Presbytery on May 20, and begin in Kingston Presbytery on Sunday May 24. With best wishes,
Your sincere friend,
W. A. Cameron
