Dear Mr. McQuesten,
I had it on my mind two or three times this winter to write but it ended in neglect and so I am right glad to hear from you.
I was down home this winter and was in Toronto the Mon. evening before Xmas, but only for two hours. I did not even leave the station. Also on my way back I was unable to go down to see you as I had a young lady to look after. She was going to Calgary.
Don't worry about necessities for your house till after you get out. I am not going into my shack until the middle of May, and you may have anything you wish out of my shack. When you come in just let me know and I'll go over and help you to get straightened up.
Would it be too much to ask you to get me a pair of running slippers and a running suit in Toronto. The best place I think is at H.A. Wilson & Co. who keep all kinds of sporting goods. I wear a no. 9 shoe but can wear no. 8. The best fit is 8½ if you can get them. Remember these are leather slippers with no heels, but spiked in the soles. I want the running suit with short legs. You can get them for about 80 or 90 cents. Don't dig too deeply on the price of a pair of shoes. I'll straighten up with you when you come.
Do you remember being up preaching in Bruce at a country church called Skipness sometime before Xmas? That was my home church, and is only a mile from our place. I was just thinking if you had known it what a pleasant chat you could have had.
If you have time make a call on Louis in Winnipeg at Manitoba College. I saw both him and Amos coming back.
Hoping you will arrive safely on the campus before long, and wishing you a safe journey, I remain,
Your sincere friend,
Don J. Sutherland
