W7058 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN, B.A. from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten
Aug 9 1928
To: Calvin McQuesten [?]
From: 'Whitehern' Hamilton

My dear Calvin,

On Monday morning H. received letter of Aug 4th with the heading Gaspe Village, asking for some articles, she sent them to Gaspe Village c/o J. Morris. I have been ever since hoping for a letter, letting me know just where you were for I had been writing to Perce and anxious to know, if you received my letters. I had written fully as to missing cheques from J. S. Morris received in June, which did not reach you and enclosed another cheque signed King, but enclosed with Souter Business paper. Cannot remember exact amount of latter but think it was over eighty dollars, the first was $41.66. I called up Morris, who had been away but on return found your letter got your address from some one think name was Alexander and had sent you Express Order. All these I have been greatly worrying at not hearing if you received this last and particularly since H. received letter from Gaspe Village.

When Tom came home he mentioned letter to Miss A. so I sent for it and am addressing this to Perce. A man brought $10 here on Monday night for you. Tom gave him receipt. So we have put that in Bank of Montreal for I cannot trust any more letters. You will have to ask Morris for another cheque for $41.66 or wait a little longer for letter returned from Dead Letter Office. I could swear the first cheque from Morris for $41.66 as I have told you, which came shortly after you left Montreal and wrote me you were going to Carleton from Gaspe; in June it must have been and I had understood you were aiming for Baie de Chaleus. We have had fearful heat am nevertheless quite clear of sending that cheque, only cannot remember exact date, I wish you would let me know, if you have received the last larger cheque signed from King. Too bad to have you so worried. With best love.

Your affectionate mother

M.B. McQuesten
