W7054 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN, B.A. from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten

To: Calvin McQuesten [?]
From: 'Whitehern' Hamilton
As H. is in Toronto we thought wise to open your letter to her. Have just talked with Mr. Morris on phone. He sent an express order to you last week to Perce. Am not sure of amount.
Then you see I wrote on Friday last enclosing a cheque signed I think by King wrapped in sheet of Souter Business paper. Mr. Morris had been away but returned & received your letter and sent the cheque last week Thursday. You have probably received both by this time; but what has become of the first cheque for $41.66 sent end of June, cannot say. Your address was so often changed cannot be positive whether I sent it to Gaspe Hotel Wilfred or Carleton, probably the latter, as at first it was to be your final destination and Globe was sent there. It might have gone to "dead letter" office. Am so afraid this worry will spoil your peace of mind, but of course no one can cash it; only how can you get another cheque? H. got your Perce address I think from Mr. Alexander. Why he sent express do not know.
Tom left on fishing trip for few days, just now. H. is enjoying her visit in Toronto. To-day I am to visit Mrs. Bell. Yesterday was driven in the fine car to Central Church and after took Mary Rioch Miller and Mr. Dawson Stephens home. Was quite pleased to see him as I had never seen him after his marriage to Grace. Well, you would need a long holiday to make up for the many small worries, you seem to have experienced. Can you phone the Hotel Wilfred at Carlton?
Your loving mother
