W6888 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN, B.A. from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten

To: Calvin McQuesten East Northfield Massachusetts
From: 'The Manse' Buckingham Quebec
My dear Calvin,
Your minute pretty card reached us safely last evening. Glad to know you are in pleasant quarters. Mary arrived on Wednesday evening. Tuesday we had the most fearful wind-storm. Mr. McBain had great difficulty keeping down fires at the works. That night and next day torrents of rain, but no damage like they had about Toronto. Tom wrote he had never seen such heavy rain.
Yesterday H. and I made our call on Mrs. Bothwell found day later at home too, ordered another pail of berries.
We all had a great sleep last night and I feel much stronger. Now I want to warn you not to get too excited and when you leave Northfield, try and find a good quiet place for resting, after using your brains hard at the lectures. All join in best love.
Your affectionate mother
