Wasn't it too-bad about poor old Liz Harold's death? The

Many Happy Returns dear Cal
Am sorry my good wishes cannot take any more tangible form but I can't help it. We hope you have not been frozen to death out there; as reports as to warmth are not encouraging.
In a letter to-day from Tom, he mentions the fact that he walked sixty-six miles. Poor chap and he hates walking so!! Thursday night our Mission Band celebrated its thirtieth anniversary, by a Concert and Social. It was most successful in every way. The schoolroom was crowded and our receipts were over twenty-two dollars [atleast??]. Bruce was among those [billed??] to appear, but his cold was not well enough. This [meant??] on the programme caused quite a talk among the choir as to who he was where he sang, and what his vice was like. I was sorry he could not sing for he really has a most beautiful baritone voice. Anna Laidlaw played splendidly. A week ago Tuesday the church managers gave a "Gag" evening. You might like to try it up where you are.
O well know [prophets??] were cut in two, half of one going to a man and the other half to a woman. The problem was to find your other half. Before you were tagged you had to register on your lay name and place of birth. Two gentlemen handed the boys to the ladies and two to the gentlemen but as very few men turned up the thing was rather a failure. The purpose of the Social was to enable the new members to meet one another.
Gourlay Colgnhamn has left the Bank and intends entering the "Canadian Permanent Force". He will have to put in five years at Toronto, Kingston or Halifax, Think it is a good thing, as he was rather wasted in the bank. Emily was enquiring after you. So your friend Angus Cameron has gone to Estevan Sask. Is that near you? Wish I had something more to tell you but things have been very quiet. Laure Hosteder was in to-day, and was asking after you.
We start house-cleaning next week, so will be very busy. Take good care of yourself and may you live as long as you like, and have what you like as long as you live.
Your affectionate sister Mary
