W5861 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten

To: Calvin McQuesten Glenhurst Saskatchewan
My dear Calvin
We were very glad to know you had passed in all your subjects, though it is certainly very trying that you still have to get up those two subjects. I did not know about them and thought you would be quite through.
Tom did all he could with Brebner and we both think that if Pres. Loudon had been there, he would have let you off.
I think you told me you had subscribed for one of the papers, so am not sending you one, unless you tell me you want it. Tom got his L.L.B. am thankful to say. All being well
hope to go down to Convocation. There is a large card of invitation for you to attend opening of Convocation Hall on Thursday Evening.
I was so glad to hear you had found a house such as you like, hope it will prove to have no naughty tricks. We have Mrs. James with us, she is really very poorly and has to be kept in bed. The trouble is, she needs to be near her doctor and the girls have gone on up to the house on Sparrow Lake, there is no doctor near there and poor Mrs. James is afraid to go up there till she is better, so I do not know what she is to do. One cannot go to a boarding house when they are sick.
I do trust you have found some comfortable house open to you. I see Ella Harvey is at last to be married on the 12th. Have no special news. Hope my address is correct
With much love from all.
Your loving mother
