W5820 TO THOMAS MCQUESTEN from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten
Apr 22 1907 Monday Morning
To: Thomas Baker McQuesten Toronto Ontario
From: 'Whitehern' Hamilton

My dearest Tomity,

Just a line to express my sympathy I am sure you are just worn out with this endless study; and do try and get some nourishing meals. Go to the King Edward or any place where you can get a really good lunch or dinner, we can easily afford it now when our house is rented and such good prospects from Bold St. You were so thin and looked so weary when you were home I was really troubled. You cannot do justice to yourself at the exams if you are only half fed.1 And then dearie, put your trust in God, acknowledge your own weakness and throw yourself on His Almighty strength and He will bring you through.

We are all feeling in good spirits and it seems wonderful how a kind Providence just at this time when we most need it is raising up this help for us.2 With fondest love, my dearest boy.

Your loving mother

M.B. McQuesten

1 In a letter to Calvin, Mary added a note for Tom: "Tell Tom to get raw eggs too" (W5812, April 7, 1907).

2 Mary is referring to the rental income from the Hamilton Club, see W5800.
