W5436 TO [REV.] CALVIN MCQUESTEN from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten Nov 26 1905 Saturday [approximate date] To: Calvin McQuesten Knox College, Toronto From: 'Whitehern' My dear Cal,
We are not yet at Mrs. Thomson's for Wednesday we received a great shock when Mr. Mason came over to tell us the tenders for new building were so enormous they did not know what to do; however we were relieved last night when he came over to say, they had decided to go on with the building. I do not know just what day we will go next week, but just direct your letters as usual because we will instruct the P.O. where to deliver. Had a fine lecture from Prof. Kilpatrick last night, he is a noble, beautiful spirited man. Have just had a visit from Mrs. Hill, she is proposing that I do some very necessary improvements to houses such as new furnaces and a porch in front and she will give me $75 a month. I thought that a fine offer, for she also said she would pay me this as soon as improvements were made and her lease does not end until next March. So I really felt pleased indeed with the offer. Won't it be a joyous day when both of you are through with exams. I had fully expected to go to Convocation when you get your degree but suppose now you will be away. Mrs. Thomson sent down your letter just now has sent Tom's, glad you received money alright. With fondest love.
Your mother
