I have just changed my cheque, and you see, take advantage of this, the first opportunity to return the sum You so kindly loaned me.

Believe me I am very, very much obliged for the favour and trust I may have it in my favour sometime to return the compliment.

Should we never meet again it is my most sincere wish that you will sustain me among your warmest friends, for so, even as now, I shall always regard you.

1 William Bickford and Isaac were both lawyers, friends from University of Toronto. William often wrote long letters, often teasing Isaac. See W-MCP5-6.256 for more on Bickford.
