Dear Dr.- I go from here to day at 12 pm for Col. via Steamer "Ariel"- & Panama R.R. I think that I have acted wisely in going as I have done from a N.Y. Climate.- I wish to thank you for all your kindness to me during our acquaintance. I will here introduce to you friend acquaintance & friendly aid my friend & chum Dr. C.B. McQuesten. Dr McQu was with me at Hanover-here in N.Y. & down at Washington in Govt. service a long time. He thinks of settling in Lawrence & I think he will do well & give excellent satisfaction to those who patronized him- of late he has been assisting Dr Peaslee in some difficult practise [sic]- Any assistance you can render him will be esteemed as a personal favour by your true friend & well wisher

1 Dr. Calvin Brooks McQuesten was born October 27, 1837 to Margarette Barker Lerned and Dr. Calvin McQuesten. He studied medicine at Dartmouth College in Hanover and at the College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. He passed away on February 19, 1912 in Hamilton, Ontario.
