W0561 TO MARGARETTE LERNED [MCQUESTEN] from Elizabeth (E.D.L.J.)
Nov 14 1825
To: Margarette Barker Lerned Adams Female Academy [Derry, New Hampshire]
From: Adams Female Academy [Derry, New Hampshire]
With feelings of sadness and tenderness I set down to say a few parting words to my dear Margarett. Seven months have passed rapidly away since we have become inmates of this pleasant seminary, and uncertain it is when we again meet. You are now probably enjoying the society of those dear friends bound to you by nature's tie, and that you may long live to be a comfort to your dear parents is the sincere wish of your friend.
When you think of this lock of hair,1 may it remind you of your absent friend, who will never cease to remember the absent Margaret. When separated from you I shall love to recall you to an affectionate remembrance, and don't let Elizabeth be forgotten.
1 A lock of hair is attached to the envelope and has been reproduced on the microfiche.
