From New York on board Rome & Cape 3 line [?] the following packages (contents unknown), in apparent good order, viz.:
Mr. McQuesten, Hamilton
1st class goods [blank] cts per 100 lbs
2nd class goods [blank] cts per 100 lbs
3rd class goods [blank] cts per 100 lbs
Light goods [blank] cts. per 100 lbs
Heavy goods [blank] cts. per 100 lbs
Marked and numbered as in the margin, which we agree to forward from New York to Cape Vincent by [?] risk hence by Steam to Hamilton all dangers, collisions, and acts of Providence, on the Lakes or connecting Rivers; also of fire, breakages of Looking Glasses, Marble and Demijohns, decay of Fruit, losses of Oranges or Lemons from boxes (unless [?]). Nuts or shot from logs, leakage of Oil or other Liquids excepted, at the rate named in the margin, as per our Classification, subject to any increase or decrease of tolls: And should a loss of any of these goods occur upon the Lakes or Rivers, the freight and charges to and at the place where such loss may happen, shall be paid by the owners of such goods Camphene, Turpentine, Acids, Powder, or Matches, will in no way be shipped by steam.
All private Marks to be made known at the Office previous to shipment of Goods, or no allowance made for detention or miscarriage of Goods, loss or overcharge in consequence. And all claims to be made, and the Company's Agents notified, before removing the property from the wharf, or no allowance made for the same.
