Box 12-008 TO REV. CALVIN MCQUESTEN, B.A. from his mother, Mary Baker McQuesten
May 11 1912 Saturday morning [approximate date]
To: Calvin McQuesten 'The Manse' Bracebridge, Ontario
From: 'Whitehern'

Dearest Cal.,

Arrived home by boat from Toronto last night so had not time to write but hope to catch mail this morning. Telephoned Mrs. Steele, there is no arrangement for special cars for delegates to Vancouver. It was quite impossible to arrange it. I have our berths for Monday night June 10th by C.P.R. which does not go by Bracebridge. Afraid I cannot be of much service to the young lady, but will inquire & write later as to extension of ticket and where she might join us. Am hurrying out now on business.

Was so pleased to find a hair mattrass [sic] [mattress] in attic, so can send nursery bed up had only a wire mattrass to get and it was a pity to leave the walnut bed-stead in the cellar. By-the-way be on the look out and inquire if there is a nice girl or woman to be got as a servant for the manse, when we want her. Hilda thinks to go up at Queen's birthday time. What did you do finally about that note. Are you going to buy your horse &c. with it? You spoke of sending it to Tom, but he did not get it.

Our place looks simply magnificent, with its new paint and the grounds so lovely.

With much love.

Your mother

M.B. McQuesten
